Humshaugh Church of England First School Mission Statement and Educational Aims

Through faith and Christian Values our aims are:

1  To develop each child's self esteem

2   To inspire care and concern for each other, parents, staff and people within our school and community

3  To provide meaningful Christian worship through which children will gain an understanding of their Christian heritage

4  To foster broadly based Christian values through the school ethos and teaching

5  To respect the faith of others

At Humshaugh First School, academic, creative and physical progress go hand in hand. We aim to provide an environment where children are happy, valued, motivated and challenged. We encourage high academic standards, but value the efforts of all children.

All children are given equal access to the curriculum, teacher expertise and resources to enable them to fulfil their potential

Through a broad and balanced education which satisfies the requirements of the National Curriculum pupils will be encouraged to:

1  Communicate their feelings and ideas fluently

2  Work and think independently

3  Become self reliant and able to use their initiative

4  Behave in a way which is acceptable to the community and to understand that they are   responsible for their own actions

5  Set themselves achievable goals and targets

6  Enjoy their learning by sharing and celebrating their talents with others
